Restoring skin color with St. Ives Apricot Scrub?

I used to be fair color (not pale, not dark). But I played golf for 6 years and now I'm pretty tanned. I recently bought the apricot scrub and since it removes the dead skin on top layer, would it mean my inner color will slowly show up? I'm not naturally dark skinned trying to be fair, I'm naturally fair skinned trying to restore my color.
