I rebooted my computer now i dont have internet?

So I rebooted my whole computer cause it kept actin funny. I have wire to wire internet and the modem is in my moms room. I don't have a installation cd for the soft ware and my friend said I need the internet driver.. but idk how to do that. Lol. I have the wireless attachment that plugs into my usb for wireless internet. Is there anyway I can just install the software I need without buyin anythin? Like hookin up my comp to the modem? Or anyother tricks?? Lol
