Having my best friend give me away?

Would it be ok to have my best friend give me away? I want her to do something really special and important in my wedding, and I'm avoiding having any male influences do it to avoid conflict. But since it is because of my best friend that I am actually marrying the love of my life I was thinking it would be nice to have her give me away. She's been an amazing friend, and she has been so good to my fiance, he's beginning to love her just as much as I do. He doesn't have a problem with it, we were talking about it last night and he thinks it would be nice. Would it look weird to have her give me away? After wards she would stand with my bridesmaids in the same dress they have and would walk alone behind the ring bearer in the recessional before the rest of the bridesmaids. Would this be weird?
